Youth Summer Session on Federalism 2003

The Forum of Federations organized its second-annual two-week comparative study and travel program on federalism from July 14-26 2003. Sixteen youth participants were selected from fifteen different countries around the world. During the course of this program, students learned about various governmental structures, mechanisms and issues critical to federal systems. The 2003 session included field trips to the federations of Canada and Mexico, incorporating visits to each of the federal capitals and to a province or state. The program featured academic sessions, discussions with politicians and officials, an intergovernmental negotiation simulation, and tours of government institutions in both of the countries visited.
