Global Dialogue: USA Roundtable on Distribution of Powers and Responsibilities - Philadelphia - June 2003

Ellis Katz, Country Coordinator for the United States, conducted the American Roundtable at Temple University, Philadelphia, for the second theme of the Global Dialogue on Federalism, 'Distribution of Powers and Responsibilities in Federal Countries'. Roundtable participants included a dozen scholars, practitioners, and youth from across the United States. The Workshop sessions were organized around the nine broad questions raised in the theme template, such as, whether the distribution of powers and responsibilities is generally compatible or incompatible with American society, political culture and economy; and how and in what ways do actual practices relating to the distribution of powers conform to and/or depart from the constitution.
