Forum welcomes new board members

The Forum of Federations recently announced the appointment of Samuel Assefa, General John de Chastelain, Amitabha Pande and Johanne Poirier to its board of directors.

• John de Chastelain (Canada) is a retired General who played a key role in the Northern Ireland peace process. He has received honours and commendations from numerous countries.

• Johanne Poirier (Canada) is an Assistant Professor at the Free University of Brussels. She has a PhD in comparative federalism from Cambridge University.She has been involved in the Forum's programs in Belgium, Canada, Spain and Sri Lanka.  

• Samuel Assefa (Ethiopia) was Vice-President of Addis Ababa University, the country's leading institution of higher education until his appointment as Ethiopian Ambassador to the United States in early 2006.

• Amitabha Pande (India) is the administrative head of India's Inter-State Council. He has had 35 years of experience in different ministries in the Government of India and the Government of Punjab.

The Forum's board includes directors from its partner countries, as well as a youth director. Canada has an additional three directors at large. The announcement was made by Dr. Arnold Koller, Chair of the Forum of Federations and past-President of Switzerland, at the boarde's meeting of June 25, 2007.
